Haringey Community Impact Awards 2021

Highly Commended Community Organisation Newcomer of the Year

4-22 Foundation was pleased to be Highly Commended as a Community Organisation Newcomer of the Year at the recent Haringey Community Impact Awards 2021 organised by the Bridge Renewal Trust.

4-22 Foundation was recognised for the brilliant work that it has done in Tottenham, Haringey, and Enfield in 2021. We were recognised for being one of only 3 Haringey-based Kickstart Gateways and creating over 261 Kickstart placements, many with local businesses providing life-changing opportunities for unemployed young people aged 16-24.

We were also recognised for several of the projects we have run this calendar year. Our Tuition School has been providing academic support at a local primary school in Tottenham, helping teachers and families to improve children’s learning.

Our Navigating Crisis project responded to the strain put on young people in Tottenham by the pandemic including high unemployment rates and the negative impact on mental health.

Navigating Crisis responded to the strains put on young people in Tottenham by the pandemic including high unemployment rates and the negative impact on mental health. We incorporated employability training, mentoring, and counselling for unemployed 16–19-year-olds. We positively engaged young people and helped them towards future employment, improved their confidence, and alleviated their mental health struggles.

Our Introduction to STEM project has introduced exciting career options for local secondary school students, raising aspirations and preparing young people for the careers of the future.

Statement from our Chair

Please find below a statement from 4-22 Foundations Chair and Co-founder Rex Bourne, given at the Haringey Community Expo 2021.

“We at 4-22 Foundation are really honoured to be recognised by the Bridge Renewal Trust for our vision to offer long-term continuous support to the children and young people in our community from the ages of 4 to 22.

Since Sam, Gavin and I founded the organisation in 2019, we have been working hard to offer an innovative and holistic programme of support to young people where we are based in Tottenham, and across Haringey and Enfield.

Working alongside our committed team of staff, directors and volunteers – we have been able to provide these young people with services including academic support, mentors, employability training and counselling. We have seen wonderful results including young people entering paid employment and children’s test scores improving.

Networks in Haringey have been key to our success so far. Including the VCS forum organised by the Bridge Renewal Trust and being based at The Trampery, which has provided many opportunities for partnership working. We love working collaboratively, so please get in touch if you are interested in our work.

Thank you again to the Bridge Renewal Trust for giving us this special commendation. We will be aiming even higher in 2022 to deliver on our promise to those aged 4-22 in Tottenham and beyond.”
